Horses have been around for 45 to 55 million years. There are about 200-300 species of horses. Female horses are called Mares. A young horse is called a Foal. Their foal can stand and run shortly just minutes after birth. When Mares are giving birth to foals they are able to do it standing up or laying down but it is most likely they will lie down. Female horses, or Mares, carry their babies for about 11 months. If they are born a bit earlier the Foal has a 29% of being pre-mature.
Most young horses begin training under saddle or in a harness between the ages 2-4. When horses grow to get bigger and bigger they usually grow 12 inches (The size of a ruler or bigger) each week. When horses die they either die of old age or horses may have had problems inside (intestines, head, ect.) other times their limbs and/or muscles get soar and could get a bone disease and would have to be put down. Horses have a lifespan of 20-25 years. But some horses are eligible to live 25-30 years according to size.
The most famous kind of horse is a Mustang. Some say the Ford Mustang was named after the horse; others say that it was named after a famous airplane. The mustang was one of the most valuable horses back then because they were the hardest to get. Back then the Mustang was used for horse and buggy, hauling goods to trade, sending messages ect,. Horses and humans interact in police work, agriculture, entertainment, and therapy. Horses were brought to America in 1601 and were used every day since then.
